Phase 4: Harvesting & Packaging
Step 1: Once your crops have reached 4 weeks of growth in your Ponix system, your crops are ready to harvest.
This recommendation is based upon Salanova lettuce. Maturity of other crop varieties may vary.
Step 2: Inspection and Selection: Inspect the plants to determine there is adequate growth and maturity to harvest. This is what a mature Salanova plant will look like:

Step 3: Gentle Removal: Using gloves and sharp, clean cutting tools, carefully harvest the lettuce from the hydroponic ports. Harvest the full plant including roots.
Step 4: Package your crop based on the determined sale, either into individually packaged clam shells or food service boxes.

Step 5: Label the packaged produce.
Step 6: Cold store and await pickup of your crops.
Step 7: Keep a record of the harvested yield, including the quantity and quality of the produce.
*We recommend to note any observations or issues encountered during the harvesting process for future reference. This is a great time to reflect on how to improve practices with efficiencies and improvements!
